No introduction is good enough to put a feeling into words or a country on paper. Portugal won me over almost instantly for its wild ocean, delicious food and chill atmosphere!
The best part of the trip was probably cruising the Algarve region in a groovy decked out Westfalia car from the 60s. I instantly fell in love with this shinny yellow house on wheels called Bahia. A big shout out goes to Siesta Campers for such an amazing experience! If you want to get your own van check them out here. In case you are wondering, Portugal is the perfect place for safe wild camping! If you need to have a shower you can always rent out a spot in a proper camping spot! If you need tips or have questions about camping in Portugal leave a comment and I will make sure to answer you!
Here is the break down of my Portugal road trip: Porto → Coimbra →Peniche→Berlengas→Sintra→Lisboa→Faro→Lagos→Sagres→Odeceixe→Aljezur→Sagres→Faro→Malaga.
Sagres stole my heart for the breathtaking ocean coast views, Odeceixe for the chill out surf vibes and Lisbon for its hidden corners. If you want to give surfing a shot, I recommend coming out to Odeceixe! Don’t except a crazy night life as the town is small but the beach scene is absolutely worth it!!!
I have to say that I fell in love with Portugal. When you move along the coast the ocean accompanies you in your journey and brings a unique energy. While it might sound overrated or cliché the coast views are breathtaking, the people are lovely and the food is amazing. Since this trip I have been back to Portugal circa 5 other times.
